Thanksgiving
As we approach the appointed time for Thanksgiving here in the United States, I want to express how grateful I am for the many blessings that have been granted unto me this year. In particular, I am thankful for the opportunity to publish Goodnight, Child of God and this newsletter, where I can share my poetry and dreams with you! Your subscription and support are a source of inspiration for which I am incredibly grateful.
There are so many other things I can joyfully express my gratitude for including my wife and children, a safe home, my career, good health - and many other things! However, I would be mistaken to say these things are properly mine. I am but a steward of all of the infinite blessings God has lovingly given to me. It is my great joy to strive to love, to serve, to write, and to share light with the world.
As the earth darkens and winter approaches, may our hearts be filled with the warmth of gratitude and the ever-shining light of the Nativity of Christ!
“Lord, it is good to be here! Amen.”
- Fr. Alexander Schmemman
Winter Light
Into dark in spiral descent Down the earth falls low Hidden within caverns bent Longing an escaping glow On eve of death's latter day Nature's order is overthrown Foes shutter in dread dismay At radiance held there below Welled within expansive deep A roaring water awaiting flow Swiftly breaks daylight's sleep Granting earth an unending glow
Thank you for reading!
I pray you have a blessed Nativity fast1 and Advent season as we approach the celebration of Christmas and great wonder and mystery of the incarnation of Our Lord Jesus Christ!
With gratitude,

Listen to my recent interview on Everyday Orthodox
It was a great joy to share some of my story on the Ancient Faith Radio program Everyday Orthodox this past Sunday! The recording of the podcast is now available and, if you’d like, you can watch the interview on YouTube.
In the Orthodox Church, November 15th begins the 40 day fast before Christmas. It is a time of joyful anticipation of the birth of Christ. You can find more information here: Nativity Fast Resources
Excited to check out the podcast. Thank you for the consistently wonderful poetry.
