Hello again friends
To everyone who has subscribed to Marvelous Wonders since the launch last month - thank you! I am humbled by the support and encouragement I’ve received. I’m excited to share my poetry with you through this newsletter.
Spring is coming
It’s almost spring here in Oklahoma. The changing of seasons is always a time of renewed hope for me. Around 6 a.m. every morning, a songbird sings outside our kitchen window. The texture of the light outside is beginning to change and day has begun overpowering night. We’ve entered into Lent and look with hope and anticipation to celebrating Christ’s victorious resurrection from the dead.
In the poem Winter’s End, I meditate on the beginning of spring as an image of the new creation - where winter and death have forever met their end.
Winter’s End

Cold sleeping earth, pale and gray As Potter’s vessel which lies in grave Awaiting spring, awaiting new birth To no longer in death remain If shadows over creation are seen Near still to us is springtime green Which blooms at the eternal dawn Where light and life reign supreme No more must seeds fall to ground To sleep and await the shout aloud Of the Sower heralding winter's end Awakening all who hear its sound
Are you ready for spring?
