Anticipation: A Poem
Nativity reflections and Christmas music + 20% off Goodnight, Child of God
Greetings dear reader,
Blessed Nativity fast to you all! As we enter this season of Advent, of anticipation of the birth of Christ, I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas and expecting the joy of the season. This is one of my favorite times of year and one in which I am inspired to write and to dream.
I was reminded recently of how the Nativity of Christ is sometimes called the winter Pascha. How fitting it is that mere days after the longest night of the year, we experience the joy and light of Christmas. Even in the coldest winter, in the hardest year, in the sunken heart, the Incarnation of the Word of God brings unmeasurable peace and inextinguishable light.
I pray this season will be a blessing to you and yours! Today I am sharing a short poem I wrote as I reflected on the beginning of the season.
Anticipation
Now we journey through the season set Before us as the eastward angel shone To the day the forefathers of old beget When freed is the earth from bellied groans

I’ve been listening to Christmas music a little earlier this year. I’ve included my Spotify playlist for this year below, if you’d like to listen along! The playlist features some of my favorite artists like The Arcadian Wild, who just released their Christmas album, and also a couple songs by my friend Barron Ryan. I hope you enjoy!
As always, thank you for reading! I am seeking to open my heart to the light of Christ this Nativity season and I pray this will lead to a deeper communion with God and more poetry I can share with you here.
With gratitude,
Drew Chancey
